Sansei Granddaughters’ Journey: From Remembrance to Resistance

From July 24, 2022 to September 3, 2022, the Sansei Granddaughters Collective presented the exhibition Sansei Granddaughters’ Journey: From Remembrance to Resistance at the AZ Gallery in San Bruno, CA. It featured the work of the five Japanese American artists Shari Arai DeBoer, Ellen Bepp, Reiko Fujii, Kathy Fujii-Oka and Na Omi Judy Shintani. As descendants of family members who were incarcerated in American concentration camps during World War II, the five artists share a unique vision that, through art, brings to life the injustices of this history, its legacy and its relevance to current issues.
